As a friend says, “Last Christmas” is the very song of Christmas time, especially for those guys, as my friend and I, who were just teenagers in 1984 when the single was released.

The geniture

Since George Michael’s birth time is 6 a.m. from memory, we need to check it and in case correct it. If the birth time is corrected to 5:41 we find a death direction of Saturn to the Ascendent by opposition. The Ascendent is the apheta in George Michael’s geniture as we will see.

The Temperament

Jupiter is the Lord of the Ascendent by exaltation and he is in sestile with the Ascendent. The Moon, which is also the Lord of the Ascendent, in Leo is moving away from the trine of Jupiter and applying to the opposition of Saturn. Since Jupiter is also one of the triplicity lord of the Moon, we can say that Jupiter is the Lord of Temperament. Since Jupiter is oriental, he is hot and moist and the temperament is sanguine. The Moon is waxing adding humidity and a bit of warm. Pollux and Bellatrix, star of nature of Mars, are rising at the horoscope and Mars is angular squaring the horoscope so there is an increase in the hot quality.

Ptolemy says:

Jupiter, as the ruler of the aforesaid regions, when he is rising, makes his subjects in appearance light of skin, but in such a way as to have a good colour, with moderately curling hair and large eyes, tall, and commanding respect; in temperament they exceed in the hot and the moist.

The Soul

Mercury invisible in Gemini is in conjunction with Venus in the terms of Venus. Also Mercury is in his domicile and his nocturnal triplicity. Mercury is in sestile with Jupiter and he is in quartile  in mundo with Saturn, which is also the diurnal triplicity ruler of Mercury. So Venus and Jupiter are the Lords of the Soul but Mercury and Saturn cast a melancholic shadow over his jovial character especially because Saturn is making an epidekateia to Mercury.

Ptolemy says:

Jupiter, allied with Venus, in honourable positions makes his subjects pure, pleasure-loving, lovers of the beautiful, of children, of spectacles, and of the domain of the Muses, singers, fond of those who reared them, of good character, beneficent, compassionate, guileless, religious, prone to athletic training, fond of competition, wise, affectionate, charming in a dignified way, magnanimous, fair, charitable, fond of learning, of good judgement, moderate and decorous in matters of love, fond of their kinsfolk, pious, just, ambitious, seekers after glory, and in general gentlemanly.

Jupiter and Venus are both in honorable position in his geniture in particular because both planet are in their proper face or almugea. We know that George Michael was a magnanimous and charitable man who during his life gave generously to many charities often without publicity.

The Star Aldebaran and the Hyades are with Mercury and Venus. Aldebaran is the red eye of the Bull, of nature of Mars; the Hyades are the moist stars on the Taurus’ muzzle which cause passion. Christoph Pezel says that when Aldebaran is united with the Lord of the Soul makes a restless, impetuosus, man; Argoli says that makes a martial soul and  gives animosity.

In respect to matters of love we inspect through Mars according to Ptolemy. Mars is in quartile with Venus and Mercury.

With Venus alone, or if Jupiter also is with her, but Saturn is not present, he produces lustful, careless men, who seek their pleasures from every quarter; and if one of the planets is an evening and the other a morning star, men who have relations with both males and females, but no more than moderately inclined to either. But if both are evening stars, they will be inclined toward the females alone, and if the signs of the zodiac are feminine, they themselves will be pathics. If both are morning stars, they will be infected only with love of boys, and if the signs of the zodiac are masculine, with males of any age.

Mars is occidental and Venus is oriental. Lets note that Venus oriental is in Gemini, a masculine sign.

Moreover the Hyades are with Venus and Mercury and, according to Ptolemy, this union makes the soul subject to the passions and inclined to obscenity. Moreover the presence of Mercury make the situation notorious and the passions more various.

The Profession

Venus and Mercury are the closest planet to the Sun. Mercury is invisible though. Venus is also the ruler of the MC by exaltation, triplicity and terms. Lord of Action, therefore, is Venus with the participation of Mercury.

Again, when two planets are found to rule action, if Mercury and Venus take the rulership, they bring about action expressed by the arts of the Muses, musical instruments, melodies, or poems, and rhythm, particularly when they have exchanged places.

Mercury is in quartile in mundo with Tyche  which is with the star Regulus.

The death

Since the Luminaries aren’t in aphetic places and so Tyche, the Lot of Fortune, the Ascendent is the giver of life.

In the picture above we see the direction of Saturn to  the descendent. Moreover at the same time a direction of Mars to the square of Jupiter. Jupiter is, as we have talked about before, George Michael’s Lord of the Body.

In his last solar return we see the Lot of Fortune with Saturn and the Moon is squared both in the zodiac and in mundo with the a dexter square by Saturn. Both the Moon and the Pars of Fortune are significators of the body, moreover in nativity Saturn is opposing the Moon.

From the comparison between the Directions and the Solar Revolution we see that Saturn is on the Ascendent of Revolution and that the Moon of Revolution is in opposition to the  Sun of Direction.

The Admission to the Hospital in Vienna

On 21 November 2011 during a tour, the singer was admitted to a hospital in Vienna, Austria as a consequence of a serious pneumonia and stayed in an intensive care unit till 21 December 2011 where he was in coma and he undergone also a tracheotomy.

The directed Moon arrives at the Horoscope and also at the square of Mars of Nativity.

In the Solar Revolution we see the violent star Antares rising at the horoscope with Altair. The Moon, Venus and Saturn are angular. Saturn occidental at the MC in Libra is opposing the waning Moon at the IC in Aries. Noteworthy is that the Moon is dry and cold because of her phase and  Saturn is very dry and cold being occidental. Their opposition intensifies the melancholic humor and strongly effects the body. Moreover the Jupiter of Nativity is with the Moon of Revolution. Also the Mars of Revolution in Gemini squares the Moon of Profection which is the Lord of Year since the profected horoscope is in Cancer.

Paolo Paoli was, as the journalist and writer Camilla Cederna said, a singing teacher. Singing because he loved to entertain his audience with popular song from the first half of the XX siecle, with lullabies, with musical recitation using his subtle, ductile and expressive voice. Teacher because he was well educated, having a master degree in French literature, and he used to recite pieces, which he often personally assembled and adapted from different masterpieces of niche leterature mingled with popular songs and pop culture. Teacher also because his shows were a sort of  life and sentimental education through an unprejudiced , witty, well-read and ludicrious eye.
It’s very hard to outline his verve, his ironic and irriverent vein, his ability to switch from a character to another, his expressive virtuosism both by voice and body without having seen one of his show. His plays were characterized by a strong comic connotation, like surreal and dreamlike comedies which he often recited en travesti.

Moreover Jupiter is combust. Saturn, the domicile Lord of the Horoscope, is aversion both with the Horoscope and the Moon and cadent. Therefore both Jupiter and Saturn are too weak to be our candidates. The Moon is void of course but defluxing from Mars. Mars is also the exaltation Lord of the Horoscope. Furthermore Jupiter, Lord of the Moon, is squaring in mundo Mars. So Mars is the Lord of temperament. Mercury, dignified by domicile and triplicity, though, is in opposition to Saturn and in anti parallel of declination with the Moon, so Mercury can be the second Lord of temperament.

Mars occidental in Leo is hot and very dry; Mercury heading to the first station is hot. The Moon is close to the full Moon so she is hot. The temperament is therefore hot and dry.

Ptolemy says:

When Mars is setting, he makes them in appearance simply ruddy, of middle height, with small eyes, not much hair on the body, and straight yellow hair; their temperament exceeds in the dry.

In the occident Mercury makes them, in appearance, of light but not of good colouring, with straight hair and olive complexion, lean and spare, with glancing, brilliant eyes, and somewhat ruddy; in temperament they exceed in the dry.

Poli was tall and with fair skin and hair.

The soul and the intellect

Mercury is in his own dignity by domicile and triplicity. Venus is in sextile with Mercury but the aspect will not be perfected because Mercury turns retrograde in few days. So Mercury and Mars are lords of the soul. Mercury is lord of the intellect, Mars of the sensitive soul. Mercury gives him the clarity of mind, the versatility, the linguistic proficiency; Mars gives the sharp irony, the irreverent verve, the tireless devotion to his work.

Ptolemy says

Allied with Mercury, in honourable positions Mars makes his subjects leaders of armies, skilful, vigorous, active, not to be despised, resourceful, inventive, sophistic, painstaking, rascally, talkative, pugnacious, tricky, unstable, systematic workers, practising evil arts, keen-witted, deceitful, hypocritical, insidious, of bad character, meddlers, inclined to rascality but nevertheless successful and capable of keeping contract and faith with persons like themselves, and in general injurious to their enemies and helpful to their friends.

Let’s note the dexter square in mundo of Saturn to Venus: that is an epidekateia. Since Saturn is on the right side and is the out-of-sect malefic Saturn has a strong corruptive influence. Moreover Saturn is in wide opposition  to Mercury in the zodiac. Poli was homosexual but he didn’t engage in long term relationships preferring to be single and have one night stand encounters.

The profession

No planet is at the MC. The Moon is void of course. No planet is doing an heliacal rising: Mars is occidental, Venus is oriental between the second station and the mean motion, Mercury is occidental heading to the vespertine heliacal setting in the next seven days. So no planet properly matches the ptolemaic requirements but anyway we can say that Venus is in a phase pretty close to the heliacal rising. So Venus is significator of actions. Let’s note, though, that Mercury is in its domicile and making a phase: the evening heliacal setting  Mercury is out-of-sect doryphoros to the Sun because it is making a phase to the Sun and it is the domicile lord of the Sun but it is of the nocturnal sect because it is occidental. Moreover Mercury is in sextile with Venus. So Venus tell us about Poli’s profession with the additional influence of Mercury.

Ptolemy says:

Again, when two planets are found to rule action, if Mercury and Venus take the rulership, they bring about action expressed by the arts of the Muses, musical instruments, melodies, or poems, and rhythm, particularly when they have exchanged places. For they produce workers in the theatre, actors, dealers in slaves, makers of musical instruments, members of the chorus, makers of strings, painters, dancers, weavers, and wax-moulders

The length of life and death

The Moon is the Apheta because she is the light of the Time and she is in an aphetical place. Mars is the alchocoden and since it is in an angle it gives its greater years: 66. Mars  is in sextile with the Sun so he adds 19 years which gives 85 years. Poli was 82 year old when he died.

In the last revolution we see Mars opposing the natal Moon at 6° of Sagittarius. Also Saturn is close to the Moon of nativity. Moreover Mars is also the Lord of horoscope of revolution; Mars is in aversion with the horoscope on the cusp of the VIII house. In the solar return the Moon is moving from Mars applying to Mercury, lord of the VIII house and also on it cusp.

In the protection the profected Moon reaches the opposition of Mars.

The day of Poli’s death the apheta, the Moon, reaches the occidental horizon.

Few days ago the italian writer, professor, semiologist and critic Umberto Eco passed away. His contribute to the contemporary culture both national and international, high and popular was invaluable. In a time of extensive web communication and non hierarchical access and production of informations he remained an authoritative intellectual as we were used to during the last decade of the XX century before the inflation, distortion and even widespread fabrication of information.

The eminent son of Jupiter

The temperament and the body

The lords of the temperament are Jupiter and Venus. The horoscope is in Leo in the terms of Jupiter so  Jupiter rules the horoscope by triplicity and terms. The lord of the horoscope is in Capricorn in the bounds of Venus. The Moon is in Sagittarius in the terms of Venus and she is received by Jupiter in Leo, dignified by triplicity. Moreover the Moon is defluxing from Venus and applying to Jupiter. Jupiter and  Venus give a sanguine temperament. The waning Moon close to the new Moon is quite melancholic. The soul and the intellect

The lords of the Soul is Jupiter. Mercury is in Sagittarius and it is received by Jupiter by a trine. We have already seen that the Moon is in Sagittarius and applying to Jupiter.

Jupiter is retrograde but dignified by triplicity and terms; moreover it is oriental in a angular house and free from malefics.

Ptolemy says:

If Jupiter alone has the domination of the soul, in honourable positions he makes his subjects magnanimous, generous, god-fearing, honourable, pleasure-loving, kind, magnificent, liberal, just, high-minded, dignified, minding their own business, compassionate, fond of discussion, beneficent, affectionate, with qualities of leadership.

Malefics in Eco’s geniture are harmless because they are combust, in cadent house and dignified in Capricorn; Mars by exaltation, Saturn by domicile.

Jupiter out-of-sect and retrograde but is strengthened by Ideoprosopia, Almugea or proper face, which is the figure of a planet relative to the Sun or the Moon when it is in a sign that is as distant, in the proper direction,  from the Luminary as its diurnal domicile is away from  Leo in case of the Sun, or its nocturnal domicile from Cancer in the case of the Moon. Here Jupiter is  as distant from the Moon as Pisces from Cancer.

Ptolemy says

Of configurations, positions in the orient and at the horoscope, and in particular those which are in proper face,produce liberal, simple, self-willed, strong, noble, keen, open souls.

Ali ibn Ridwan explaines:

If the planet dispositor of the actions of the soul finds itself in this situation, that is proper face, it means that the soul is outspoken and independent in his judgment,strong, sharp, acute and which never draws back. Because planets in such position have been a great strength and a good condition and so the judgment follows.

We see that Mercury is in the vis luminis of the Moon which harmonize the irrational soul and the intellect. Both Mercury and the Moon are in a sign of right ascension which gives straightforwardness to his feelings and thoughts. Mercury is in exile in Sagittarius  but it is received by Jupiter. Mercury by phase gives speed of thought, openness of mind and propensity to act.

Daimon, the Lot of Spirit, is in Leo with Jupiter. Paulus alexandrinus says:

Spirit happens to be lord of soul, temper, mindfulness, and every power; and sometimes it also cooperates in the determination concerning what one does.

So Jupiter which is Lord of Daimon by triplicity and terms e in conjunction with it dignifies the native with a good and well disposed intellect and indicates that the activity of the native is concerned with high studies and philosophy as we are going to see.

The profession

Venus is visible between its vespertine heliacal rising and the mean motion, Mars is combust, Mercury is visible between its morning station and the mean motion. Since Jupiter has dignity over the MC by triplicity, it is in trines with it and receives Mercury and the Moon by trine it his very hightligted. Moreover the Moon is applying to Jupiter. So Mercury and secondly Venus are Lord of Action but Jupiter indicates the quality and subject of his profession. Jupiter is a significator of philosophers. Mercury gives him the profession into writing ,teaching and researching and Venus proficiency in languages but Jupiter makes him a philosoper, a scholar and a professor.

 

The fortune

Since the Moon in Sagittarius is applying to Jupiter,  Jupiter is a out-of-sect doryphoros of the Moon.We have already seen that Jupiter also is in proper face to the Moon. Since the attending planet is Jupiter, his attainmnets come from favours, gifts, honours, and magnanimity.

Tyche, the Lot of Fortune, is Cancer and it is in sextile in mundo with Jupiter which is its Lord by exaltation. Moreover Tyche is making a mundane parallel with Jupiter and Daimon, showing that Eco received fame and wealth from his intellectual activity.

Furthermore Nike, the Lot of Victory or Jupiter is conjuncted with the horoscope. Nike is calculate from the Jupiter to Daimon, the Lot of Spirit. Abu Ma’shar says:

It’s signification is honor and achievements and assistance and blessedness and kindness, also praiseworthy ends and fitness and seeking of faith and whatever is of its being. And belief in God and study in every good work and the esteeming of it. And the seeking of justice and of just judgment between men. And the building of places of oratory and wisdom and the wise and the loftiness of the wise. Also trust and hope, and every thing a man enjoys in term of goods and the partnership of men with each other.

Eco was a righteous man who dedicates his whole life to studying, teaching and spreading his knowledge and science.

He became very famous internationally to the broad public after the publication of his first and most known novel: “The Name of the Rose”. The first edition was released in December 1980. Around that time Jupiter got to the Lot of Activity by direction. The Lot of Activity is calculated from Mercury to Mars and measured from the horoscope.

Anyway the final consacration of Eco’s fame in popular culture came after the release of the movie after the book directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. The movie was released in October 17, 1986. Few months before the Jupiter conjuncted the Lot of Fortune by direction.

David Bowie, one of the most important artist of the 21th century, has passed away after having left a non-fading footprint on planet earth.

 

The birth of the White Duke

In Bowie’s geniture two planet are very prominent: Saturn and Venus. Venus is exactly culminating and Saturn is on the occidental horizon. Those two planets are significators of important areas of life.

Saturn is the Lord of the Ascendent, is retrograde, in exile in Leo but in-sect and angular. Saturn receives the bodily application of the Moon.

Venus is angular, on the MC, out-of-sect, oriental matutine, between the second station and the mean motion. The Moon is defluxing from Venus.

Since Saturn is Lord of the Ascendent, in aspect with it and the Moon is applying to Saturn, Saturn is the Lord of the Temperament. Also Venus contributes because, even if it has no dignity over the Ascendent and the Moon, it aspects both of them from the MC. Saturn is dry and more temperate than cold; Venus is temperate and wet. Bowie’s slim and slender shape is definitely under the Saturn influence but Venus adds grace and charm.

Saturn is the Lord of the Soul because it is in conjunction with the Moon and domicile lord of Mercury. Since Venus is triplicity ruler of Mercury, it is making a sextile in mundo with Mercury and the Moon is applying to Venus also Venus influences Bowie’s soul.

Venus is Lord of Activity, being the only fast planet visible and at the MC.

Jupiter is oriental in sextile with the Sun in the zodiac and squares in mundo the diurnal luminary doing a epidekateia. So the Sun receives the doryphory of Jupiter, though Jupiter has no dignity in the place of the Sun.

Dorotheus says:

If Jupiter is overeminent, that is, casts a right ray, the native and his father will be noble and will enjoy a good standing with many benefits, honors and relations with the rulers, and they will have power over many men.

The absence of rulership over the Sun by Jupiter means that the doryphory is concerning more the native than his father.

Also Venus is doryphoros to the Sun, since the Sun is in sextile with Venus and Venus is angular and ruler of the Sun by triplicity and terms. Though this is an out-of sect doryphory and a quite weak one because the sextile is at the boundary of the vis luminis of the Sun.

At the horoscope the stars which are in rictus Capricorni, the Capricorn’s muzzle, are rising. Those stars belongs to the passionate stars about which the anonymous says:

When these places are rising or setting, the natives are pushed to act immorally not only with women but also with boys and to take delight in the pleasures against nature

And furthermore:

If that happens manifestly or covertly, it is indicated by the rising  or setting of the planets that produce these passions, I mean Venus or Mars or Venus and Saturn, especially when configured in an adverse way, squaring or opposing each other or when one of them rises or culminates: then the natives will reveal his passions in a public and notorious way. And since unnatural pleasures cannot be enjoyed  without the fulfillment of the desires and the unavoidable fate, so the abandon to the pleasures brings complications, deceptions, losses, enmities and convictions, if the star of Jupiter does not remove partially the damages, witnessing the star of Venus.

Venus is squared in mundo by Saturn since they are both angular and Venus culminates, so Bowie’s passion will be notorious and public. Jupiter is in parallel of declination with Venus and it is also the domicile lord of Venus so those passions don’t trouble him.

The birth of a Black Star

Moon is the apheta and Saturn is the alchocoden. Saturn angular gives its greater years: 57 years. Only Venus is in aspect with Saturn. Since Venus is a benefic, angular and trines Saturn so it gives its lesser years and such months as the middle years of Venus: 8 years and 45 months. In total: 68 years and 9 months.

Around the Bowie’s death the Ascendent arrives to the square of Saturn and Venus to the conjunction of Saturn and the occident.

In the profection the Sun and the Horoscope are in Libra.  The Lord of the Year is Venus and the profected Venus is with Saturn, Moon and descendent of nativity.

In the Solar Return before his death we see Mars the Lord of the Horoscope in the XII place and squaring the Moon of nativity.

 

Eye Oddity

The odd appearance of Bowie’s eyes were due to a condition called anisocoria.
Anisocoria is characterised by an unequal size in a person’s pupils. In Bowie’s case, his left pupil was permanently dilated, giving illusion of having different coloured eyes because the fixed pupil does not respond to changes in light, while the right pupil does.
The cause of Bowie’s anisocoria was caused by an accident happened in the spring of 1962.
He was injured at school by his friend George Underwood who punched him in the left eye during a fight over a girl. Doctors feared he would become blind in that eye. After a series of operations during a four-month hospitalisation, his doctors determined that the damage could not be fully repaired and Bowie was left with faulty depth perception and a permanently dilated pupil. Despite that incident Underwood and Bowie remained good friends.

In Bowie’s geniture the Moon is in conjunction with Asellus Borealis  and she is close to the nebula Praesaepe  which is with Saturn. The Asellus Borealis and Praesaepe belong to azemena stars (from Arabic az-zamâna, chronic infirmity or illness as well as inseparable disease) which are harmful to the sight. The Moon as Sun is a significator of sight and eyes but in particular of left eye.

Punch in the Eye

In the spring 1962 around the beginning of May there is a direction in mundo of Saturn to the Sun. Sinos, the Lot of chronic illness, in opposition to Mars and Sun in the geniture, is in conjunction with the directed Saturn.

Moreover in the Solar Return for the 1962 the Moon and Saturn are a the beginning of Aquarius in opposition to Saturn and the Moon of nativity.

Lollipop in the Eye

During a concert in Oslo on 18 June 2004, Bowie was hit in his left eye with a lollipop thrown by a fan. A week later he suffered chest pain while performing at the Hurricane Festival in Germany. Firtly it was thought to be a pinched nerve in his shoulder, but the pain was later diagnosed as an acutely blocked coronary artery. He  was operated on urgently in Hamburg. The remaining 14 dates of the tour were cancelled.

Omar Ismail Mostefai was  the 29-years-old  French terrorist of Algerian origin who attacked with other two terrorists at the Bataclan theatre, where a rock concert with 1500 people in the audience took place. He blew himself up with suicide west in Bataclan theatre after having killed 87 members of the audience.

He was raised in the Parisian suburb of Courcourronnes, where he lived with his large family and he was involved in petty crime and arrested eight times but never put in jail. He was known by investigators as a possible radical muslim but he never underwent further investigations.

He was a young guy, used to hang out with mates and spend time racing car. One of his acquaintances remember him as a good person, the kind of guy who, if you had an issue with a group from another area, would help you out.

In the last few years Mostefai had a young daughter and moved in the area of Chartres.

The geniture

I rectified the geniture for the day of his death.

Since the nativity is diurnal and the Sun is on the cusp of the IX place, the Sun is the Apheta. But the Moon in the first place applying to the Sun is also quite powerful. The out-of-sect malefic is Mars in exile in Libra in the  VII place.

By direction the bounds of Saturn reached the Moon at the end of July 2012 then the bounds of Mars reach the Moon in 25th November 2015. Just before the shift from bound of Saturn to bounds of Mars, Mars of direction makes a parallel in mundo with the Moon.

The last Solar Return

The Luminaries are in the VIII place in aversion with the horoscope. Also Mercury,Venus and Saturn are in the VIII place. Venus and Saturn are combust. The Moon in fall in Scorpio. Jupiter is in the cadent VI place. All planet are peregrine except Saturn in its own terms and Mars in exaltation in Capricorn. Mars, lord of the horoscope, square in mundo both the Moon and Mercury. So no benefic planet can help and the out-of-sect Mars receives the Moon.

Indeed, in general, Mars in this place, and in the night than in the day, makes those who suffer a violent death. When in alien places it causes sickness and causes hardships, injuries and falls. By night creates troubles and upheavals in every activities;also it brings burns or iron wounds or hidden pain when the year comes to its government. The Lord of the Soul

Jupiter rules over Mercury and the Moon, being the lord of their domicile, and also is in aspect with Mercury. Moreover the Moon is applying to Sun and Saturn and Jupiter and Saturn are in parallel of declination. Also between Jupiter and Saturn there is commutatio, that is, they dispose of each other, being the lord of the domicile of the other one. This familiarities bound the two planets.

On the 30 of October the Mayor of Rome, Ignazio Marino, was forced to leave.
He was elected Mayor of Rome in June 2013. Due to an expense scandal on 12 October 2015, Marino resigned from the Office of Mayor but on 29 October he retired the resignation, after some demonstrations by his supporters who asked him to remain in charge. Nevertheless, on 30 October he decayed from his position after 26 of the 48 members of the City Council resigned. The whole story appears both farcical and dramatic. In November 2014, the Mayor Marino was accused of having enter with his car the restricted traffic area in the center of Rome eight times without permission and without paying the fines. In this regard, the investigative office of Rome, in February 2015, ascertained that the computer system was hackered to sabotage the transit permission of the mayor. Afterward he was accused of alleged irregularities in certain payments made to employees by Imagine, non-profit organization he founded in 2005. Due to this new scandal he was left without the support of his political party, the centre-left Democratic Party and he reacted weakly and without shrewdness to the situation making him to lose credibility in the public opinion and finally leading him to resign. Marino was unable to secure himself and his political activity from the strategies of his opponents who wanted to get rid of him. He was a hindrance to many established power in Rome, both illegal and legal, as corrupted politicians and criminal organizations and the Roman Catholic lobbies and Vatican. In fact shortly after his victory in the elections he was approached by an organised crime network which rigged public contracts and embezzled funds. Marino took the case to prosecutors, starting the 2014 corruption scandal, involving the government of the city of Rome, in which alleged criminal organizations misappropriated money destined for city services. Moreover, though he is catholic, he actively operates to promote gay rights, gay civil partnership and to legally recognize the right of people engaged in gay marriage acquired abroad. Also he strongly supported the introduction of a law about the advance health care directive or living will, writing books, articles and debating with conservative catholics and politicians. His opinion is very authoritative because he is a renowned and famous surgeon. He trained with Thomas Starzl, who had pioneered liver transplantion in humans. In the United States he has held chairs as Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and at the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Moreover he founded in Palermo the ISMETT (Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation and Advanced Specialized Therapies), the first liver transplant centre in Sicily.
Marino has personally performed over 650 transplants.

Venus, the benefic planet is predominant so his manners are slightly effected by the cold influence of Saturn, cadent, retrograde and peregrine. He is dignified and reverent, modest, self-controlled but also neat and cheerful though clumsy in hostile environment.

Lord of Activity

Mercury in Aquarius is the oriental closest planet to the Sun and it is also Lord of the MC in Virgo so it is the Lord of Activity. Mercury is squared by Saturn in Scorpio and in antiparallel of declination with Mars in Taurus. Moreover Mars is the bound lord of Mercury and the MC.

Mercury is the Lord of Activity but I think Mars it should be considered as participating since it is in aspect with Mercury, being also its bound lord and though it is not oriental, it is very fast in motion being very close to the heliacal setting. Saturn is too weak, being cadent in the twelfth place, peregrine and retrograde, to be able to really testify.

Ptolemy says:

If Mercury and Mars together assume lordship of action, they produce sculptors, armourers, makers of sacred monuments, modellers, wrestlers, physicians, surgeons, accusers, adulterers, evil-doers, forgers.

 

We must note that the Moon is very close to the MC and that she is applying to her lord Venus, which is also oriental to the Sun. Venus receives Mars from Taurus by square.

Ptolemy says:

But if Venus and Mars together dominate action, they produce dyers, perfumers, workers in tin, lead, gold, and silver, farmers, dancers in armour, druggists, physicians who employ drugs in their treatments.

Mercury as a lord of Activity is located in the sign of Aquarius so the activity concerns scientific pursuits or those useful to man.
Since the Moon is located at the supernal pivot in Libra, a popular sign, his actions are public and popular and he is also involved in political and social activities.

About the Moon at the MC, Rethorius says:

The Moon in the culminating sign, angular, in sect makes a man great, mighty, king, lord of life and death.

Moreover Venus is doryphoros of the Moon since the Moon in Libra is applying to Venus and Venus is domicile lord of Libra. This is a sign of eminence.

The treachery

The 30 October more than half of the members of the City Council resigned and so Marino decayed from Mayor of Rome. His political party, the Democratic Party (PD) sacrificed him to realpolitik.

The Moon is void of course in the IV place in fall in Scorpio.  The Sun, Lord of the Horoscope, is peregrine, cadent in the IX place. The star Procyon, of nature of Mars and Mercury at the horoscope, rising in the day it’s a sign of risk, of intrigue and lack of friends. Also Presaepe, the nebulae of Cancer, is at the horoscope, which is, regarding the actions, a sign of inconstancy and decrease. The Liber Hermetis calls the nebulae Presaepe velamen secularium rerum, that is, the concealment of worldly things.

Jupiter is in the first place but retrograde and peregrine. Jupiter is in trine with Mars.

Mars the malefic out-of-sect, lord of MC, is in its domicile in Aries at the Midheaven with Cauda. Mars here is strong but not beneficent. Venus the Lord of the IC is conjuncted with MC in detriment in Aries. Tyche, the Part of Fortune, is in the VIII place, in aversion with its Lord, Jupiter and squared by Saturn. Saturn is with Antares, star of violent nature.

Notable is that Saturn of Revolution is over the Horoscope of Nativity. Saturn in the geniture is the out of sect malefic and  is on the cusp of the XII house possibly meaning hidden enemies and obstacles.

The Mc reached the bounds of Saturn by direction on April 2013 just one month before he was elected Mayor of Rome and will remain in Saturn bounds till September 2019. Meanwhile the Moon was in parallel in mundo with Saturn by direction at the beginning of 2015.

The Sultan of Turkey trembles

The first of November 2015 a new general election will be held in Turkey since the last election of the 7 June 2015 resulted in a hung parliament.

Erdogan, who was prime minister for eleven year till 2014 and its now president of Turkey, called in August for new election after the Justice and Development Party (AKP) lost the absolute majority and it was impossible to form a coalition. Erdogan, founder of the AKP, wanted to give a second possibility to his party to gain the absolute majority and so to realize his project to transform Turkey into a presidential republic.

Erdogan, a very shrewd and charismatic leader and politician, was involved in corruption scandals and controversies and his increasing weakness begins to be reveled by dissent which show up as partial lost of political consensus of his party, the AKP.

Since the Horoscope is in Capricorn, domicile of Saturn and exaltation of Mars, and Saturn is at the MC squaring the ascendent and Mars is conjunct with the Moon, Saturn and  Mars are the  Lords of Temperament. Saturn oriental, is cold and moderately dry; Mars oriental, matutine is hot and dry. The Moon is in the last quarter, waining so she adds a more melancholic tone. Moreover the Mars and Moon are with the star Antares, of nature of Mars and Jupiter, and with Vega, star of nature of Venus and Mercury. So his temperament is mainly dry and temperate, that is, melancholic choleric. His body is  quite tall and robust, with  a rosy complexion and brown eyes. Saturn is the constellation of Virgo and the ascendent in the constellation of Sagittarius, so they give a bigger and well shaped body but the Moon and Mars in the constellation of Scorpio lessen the grace and proportion of the body.

Jupiter is not very well placed being in detriment in Gemini and occidental and furthermore Mars are Jupiter are in opposition and the opposition is a discordant figure. So this aspect gives to the quality of his soul a negative shade. Venus in is exaltation in Pisces, doing the evening heliacal rising gives him a magnetic personality and soften his hard attitude and make him more jovial especially in a familiar environment.

About the opposition of Mar and Jupiter notable is what the Anonymous says:

But if Jupiter, located in favorable places of the geniture or in the main corners, in his home or in his exaltation, observes these stars with benign radiation, the dangers of all these accidents are mitigated.

Moreover we must point out the conjunction of Moon and Mars with star Antares. Indeed if it rises or culminates gives honors and elevation when it is commingled with benevolent planets; it behaves contrary, if it is commingled with malefics. Pretty bad for the body and for the uncertain fortune; it makes a man furious and reckless, Cardano says. And he adds: with the Moon it makes violent men, with great audacity and many dangers. According to Pezelius, with the significators of the soul it gives violent traits and audacity mixed with cruelty.

The quality of action and dignity of the native

Mars oriental to the Sun, receiving the application of the Moon and having dominion on the MC is the Lord of Activities. Jupiter is configured with Mars in Sagittarius so it participates. Saturn contributes being at the MC. Saturn generally makes manager and administrators.

Mars,in aspect with the sun,… If Jupiter testifies, he produces soldiers, police officers, publicans, innkeepers, ferrymen, assistants at sacrifice.

Rethorius says:

The star of Mars changing to be in the star of the Good Daemon by night makes the existence of many good things and those who are deemed worthy of honor by the people, and friends among the powerful.

Concerning the honor and dignity we note that the Moon, Luminary of the Time, receives the doryphory of Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury. So the native is quite dignified and will reach a very good social position.

A sinister shadow

We have already observed the presence of Mars with the Moon and with Antares which give a violent nature to the native and dangers and worries. But Mars is in sect so it isn’t too problematic. Instead Saturn, out-of-sect, culminating at the MC, even if it is Lord of the Horoscope, is quite sinister.

Firmicus says:

Saturn by night on the MC indicates misfortunes: loss of inheritance, no marriage, no children, especially if it’s in the house of terms of a malefic planet. But if a benefic planet, that is, Venus or Jupiter if in a favorable aspect to Saturn thus located by night, those things which were denied will be given in another way. But in general Saturn located in any angles by night indicates the greatest evils. He destroys wife and children and always predicts grief from loss of relatives.

In Erdogan’s geniture Saturn is trined by Sun, Mercury and Venus so the dangers are weakened but still incumbent.

A glimpse into the future

Due to the incoming political election in Turkey it is interesting to glance in the Erdogan’s near future.

Profection – 1st november 2015

From the Profection for the 1st of November 2015 we see that the Profected Moon and Mars are received by Horoscope of nativity in Capricorn. The Profected horoscope is with the Sun of nativity in Pisces. Those configurations could not be a good sign about his health. Moreover the Profected Saturn in Sagittarius is in opposition to the Natal Jupiter.

Solar Return 2015

In the last Solar Return we see Mars, the Lord of the Horoscope of Revolution, in its domicile in Aries in the V place with Venus. Vega also is rising at the horoscope. But Saturn of Nativity is over the horoscope of Revolution and Saturn of Revolution in conjunction with the Moon and Mars of  the Nativity which in turn oppose the Moon of Revolution. Moreover the Moon in the Solar Return is in aversion with the horoscope and with Algol and Aldebaran.

The Lord of the year from the Profection is Saturn because is in the lord of the Profected horoscope in Aquarius for the day of the Solar Return. So Erdogan till the next birthday will be ruled by Saturn.  Anyway due to the daily motion of the Horoscope, on the first of November will be already in Pisces and the benefic Jupiter is a far better ruler.

The directions are not good either especially at the end of October but they are very effected by the correctness of the birth hour, which I rectified by his major life event but obviously still remains uncertain.

For sure this year was not very good for Erdogan as we see from the Solar Return and Saturn as Lord of the year. After the next elections probably the situation will be unchanged.

The dogs of war over Turkey

On 10 October 2015 two bombs exploded outside the Central Railway Station in Ankara, Turkey. People was gathering there to march in rally against the growing conflict between the Turkish Armed Force and the separatist Kurdistan Workers’Party. More than 105 people were killed and 400 injured by the attack, which is at present the deadliest in the history of modern Turkey.
No organisation has yet claimed responsibility for the attack which the government and the APK party, guiding the country till the next incoming election on the 1st of November, ascribe to fighters of the Islamic State. Instead the pro-Kurdish People Democratic party, having supposed to be the target of the bombing, accused the Turkish government to be the instigator of the attack and a threat to Turkey’s peace and security.

The explosion

The bombs exploded at 10:04 EEST.

Mars oriental matutine, out-of-sect holds the upper pivot in Virgo. The other malefic, Saturn, is in the first place, near the Ascendent. Mars makes a Decimation or Epidecatéia on Saturn. The Moon is moving from the conjunction with Jupiter in exile in Virgo. Jupiter also is in conjunction in mundo with Mars, and squared by Saturn so it is not in a good condition. Venus, in its detriment in Virgo, falling from the supernal angle is in parallel of declination and parallel in mundo with Mars. Saturn also is in sextile with Mercury, Lord of the MC. So the malefics holds the angles and no benefic planet can help. Moreover Mars culminating trigger the violent and destructive event.

The Solar Eclipse of March 2015

As I wrote about the last solar eclipse in my previous post Darkened equinox, the Solar eclipse occurred in Pisces and so it’s supposed to effect the Anatolian peninsula.

In Ankara the syzygy is at the upper pivot while the star Pollux, of nature of Mars is rising at the eastern horizon. The lordship over the syzygy is of Jupiter and Saturn as I noted in my previous post but the star Pollux cast a violent light over the syzygy. This star is very important because not only is rising but is squaring the Luminaries. Moreover Jupiter is making a parallel in mundo with its lord Saturn and Mars a parallel in mundo with Mercury in detriment and exile in Pisces.  Those two aspects are also important because they occur around the central axis of the IC and MC where the syzygy is placed. Mars in this chart gives an important contribute because it is strong in the X place in its domicile in Aries also dignified by egyptian term and it’s the Lord of the culminating angle close to the syzygy place.

As I have already said in my previous post the events will start around the first months of summer 2015 and will last till the end of 2017. The effects will be more intense between June 2016 and March 2017. So the bomb attack took place in the range of influence of the solar eclipse.

The syzygy before the attack

The syzygy before the attack was also a lunar eclipse partially visible from Ankara. Mars rules over the syzygy because it’s lord of the Moon in Aries and of the occidental angle in Pisces, which is in the bound and triplicity of Mars. Mars, which is Lord of the eightieth place, is in parallel in mundo with Mercury, Lord of the Ascendent, in the first place and squares Saturn both in mundo and in the zodiac. The Moon is moving from the trine with Saturn to the diameter of the Sun. Jupiter and Venus are peregrine in the twelfth place.

Say Ptolemy in the II book, chapter ‘Of the Time of the Predicted Event’:

The beginnings of the particular abatements and intensifications of the event we deduced from the conjunctions which take place in the meantime, if they occur in the significant regions or the regions in some aspect to them, and also from the other movements of the planets, if those that effect the predicted event are either rising or setting or stationary or at evening rising, and are at the same time in some aspect to the zodiacal signs that hold the cause; for planets when they are rising or stationary produce intensifications in the events, but when setting, and under the rays of the sun, or advancing at evening, they bring about an abatement.

It is notable that the Moon in this syzygy exactly trines Saturn in the Solar Eclipse of March 2015 and she has just passed over the point of Luminaries in the Solar Eclipse of the March 2015. So, according to Ptolemy, shortly after this syzygy we could expect something predicted by that Solar Eclipse.

Middle East: a powder-magazine

Middle East is a potential explosive area which can infect far beyond its borders. Many conflicts in the second half of the last century and last decades have afflicted the middle eastern countries: Palestine and Israel ongoing conflict, the Israel Lebanon war, the Israel Jordan wars, the Gulf War in Iraq, the Civil War in Syria,  the rising of Islamic State etc. Also Turkey which is the European door to Asia was implicated in the repression of the Kurds who live in the Kurdistan region. Moreover the Middle East is a tangle of many political, nationalistic, religious and economic interests.

If we take a look to the astrological chorography of Ptolemy we see that he subdivides the ecumene in four triplicity quadrants.

Each quadrant has a inner part ruled by an element and signs belonging to it triplicity and an outer part ruled by the another element and signs belonging to its triplicity. So the inner part of the north eastern quadrant, where Turkey and Syria are located, belongs to the water triplicity and in particular the central part of Turkey and it south coasts are ruled by Pisces. The inner part of the south eastern quadrant, where Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Arabic peninsula are located, belongs to the triplicity of fire and in particular the north of Syria, Palestine and Israel are ruled by Aries.

The syzygy of Luminaries during the Sun Eclipse of March 2015 occurred in the last degree of Pisces and during the phenomenon, which lasted about two hours, the Moon shifted in Aries. So we can suppose that predicted events will involve Turkey,  Syria, Palestine and  Israel.

Moreover since the Libya is under Pisces and North Europe under Aries we can expect that those event will effect also those countries.

In the last months a river of refugees from Syria and Middle East reached the borders of many European countries as Hungary, Austria, Germany, Poland, Croatia passing  through Turkey and Balkans. Those events could be only the beginning of a difficult period which will intensify in the next months and years.

Alexis Tsipras, greek politician, leader of the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) led his party to the victory in the general election held on 25 January 2015. He was able to raise the hopes of Greek citizens about the program to revive the national economy and improve the people life conditions and future. The following day he reached an agreement with with the right-wing populist Independent Greeks party to form a coalition. The same day Tsipras sworn in as new Greek prime minister with a civil rather than a religious oath of office marking a rupture for the first time in Greece political history with the tradition of religious Greek Orthodox ceremonial oath.
